I'm Back and done with School!

I took a long break due to a busy grad school schedule coupled with work and family. I finished classes in August and defended my Masters last month. I'm done!!! My graduation is December 10th and I can't believe it's been two and a half years in the making. I'm so excited to get back to cooking, sewing, hanging out, going to the lake (that will have to wait for several months...) and all the other things I've put off to focus on school. For now, I love my job, so I'll stay put working in Athletic Administration at Northwest Christian University. With that said... I've very excited and eager to see what God has in store for me next. I've contemplated getting my PhD, but don't know that I can take more schooling right now :) I'll do my best to keep you all updated on a more regular basis!

For starters-

Jennine graduated from PSU in June and is now working on her Masters. I'm super proud of her!!! Yea Neenee!

Alexis also graduated in June from PSU, but from Kindergarten! She is in the first grade now and doing amazing. She's the best little reader I've ever seen. That girl can finish a chapter book before I can even read the cover. And to think she's doing this at 5 years old- Look out world, here she comes! She played her second season of soccer and it's amazing to see how she's grown. She starts basketball soon and I can't wait for those games.

Freeman River Sports is going well and I think my Dad, Nate, and Crystal were on the water the entire summer and fall. I can't wait until next summer when I can actually join them for some outdoor fun!

My parents celebrated their 40th anniversary this September! What a great example they are to the rest of us! I love you guys :)

My mom is still my best shopping partner! She and I got back from LA last week where we spent several hours on the hunt for the next best deal!

Lastly- The Ducks are #1. What an exciting football season we're having. We're all enjoying the ride and hope the wins continue. GO DUCKS!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Dad! He's 60, the sad thing is that means I'm almost 30 :( The birthday party was fun, lots of good food, but the best part was seeing all our friends and family. My three bestfriends (Jennine, Amy, and Amy) were there with all their kids (Lex, Brady and Kayley, and Ethan, Macey, and Emma). I don't get to see everyone in the same place often, so it was wonderful that they all came. Thanks for coming everyone and wishing my dad happy birthday! Love you dad!

Roller Rink

Lexi got roller skates for Christmas and is enjoying learning to skate. Jennine, Lexi, Amber, and I went to Oaks Park in Portland and did some skating last month (sorry I'm a little behind on posting pictures). We had a great time and in the video you can see Lexi's new friend. There is a little boy at the rink who definitely fancies Lex. He's a great little skater and the two of them have lots of fun.

Moving Day - Again!

Jennine and Alexis have a new apartment! This was probably the best move we've had thus far. In the last five years Jennine and I have moved way too many times but this time the move took place in the same building and went really well, Lex was a great helper. Neene and Lex moved to a larger apartment on the 5th floor - moving up! The new apartment is great! Awesome views and much larger. Hopefully in April when I move it will go as good as this move did!

Magic Mountain

Jennine and I spent our last day in Cali at Magic Mountain! She's been talking about going to a theme park for over a year now. The weather was a little cold so not many people were there. The longest we had to stand in line was a few minutes. By the end of the day we were able to go on rides several times in a row. I'm totally getting old though... after several hours of riding and not eating I felt a little sick... my body just can't do what it used to! Jennine did the last ride alone, I just couldn't take anymore (not to mention we had already done that ride three times...)

Balboa Park

Jennine and I spend the day in beautiful Balboa Park in San Diego. We walked around and just enjoyed the sun! It was so nice to get out of the snow and cold weather in Oregon and experience some sun for a few days. I miss California!

Beating the other OSU

The Holiday Bowl was awesome! Especially beating Oklahoma State, the other black and orange OSU. Hal, Babs, my parents, Adam and I enjoy the game in San Diego. Before the game we hit the alumni party and enjoyed some food and the company of thousands of ducks! There were way more ducks than OSU fans. I think we may have scared the fans who traveled from Oklahoma. The game was great and the outcome was even better!!! It was a great way to end a great season.

Road Trip

The road to Southern Cal was definitely interesting! Our first stop came when I got a flat tire (three of the last five times Jennine and I have driven to Cali we've had a flat tire, so this was only fitting). Thankfully my parents were right in front of us and my dad changed my tire for me! With the spare on we went to Medford and firestone gave me a free tire. After that experience we ran into the singing gas station attendant. He was so amazing and entertaining Jennine had to take a picture. We laughed the rest of the trip about him! We spent a week in Cali and had a great time. On the way back it was just Jennine and I. My parents left a few days earlier and took Lex with them. Jennine and I made great time and were back in Eugene in 12 hours.

Nate and Jesus share a birthday! Christmas evening we celebrated Nate's 32nd birthday. Even Henry and Lily (the dogs) got to help! Lex really enjoying making the ice cream crepes. Yummy!!! Nate got a new rescue life jacket (apparently that's what he wanted.. we Freeman's just love the water!) Happy Birthday big brother.

Christmas was wonderful! We had a really low key Christmas and just spend a lot of good family time together. We shared gifts, ate food, played games, and had a great time.

Lexi Noodle is 4 years old! She had a birthday party planned at the Portland Zoo but due to weather it was cancelled. So my parents, Nate, Crystal, and I took her to build-a-bear to celebrate. Jennine was snowed in in Portland and almost didn't make it down for Christmas. Lex loved making her Hello Kitty and picking out a pretty outfit for her. Because it was for her birthday she got to ring the birthday bell and the entire store sang to her. We had a good time. She's getting so big and growing up so fast. On December 18th Alexis went from my favorite 3 year old to my favorite 4 year old. I've always told Lex she's my favorite child at whatever age she is (my favorite 1 year old, 2 year old, etc.), it's too bad she reminds me how old I am when she tells me I'm her favorite 29 year old...

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

Sunday night it started snowing and man it was cold! Jennine and I went out for a few minutes but that's all we could handle. Monday the roads were bad and I stayed home from work. Jennine and Lex could not make it back to Portland so we got to play in the snow. Lex and I had a fun walk down by the river and she really enjoyed throwing the snow! Now we just have to wait and see what the weather has in store for us now! Lexi's birthday is on Thursday and we have a party planned for Saturday in Portland. We're just praying the weather will be good and we can make it up there to celebrate. Happy Early birthday Lex! You are Noni's favorite 4 year old now!!!

Freeman Family Christmas

On Sunday we went to Aunt Candy and Uncle Clint's house for an early Christmas celebration. We ate good food, enjoyed our family, and played Wii fit! I ended up a ski jump professional and Jennine took the top prize as being a yoga master! The rest of the family turned out to be unbalanced (at least according to the Wii fit.) Thanks Aunt Candy for opening your house, we had a great time and Lex loves her Fancy Nancy book!

It's Christmas time! The tree is decorated and my parents had their annual Christmas party. The party was a lot of fun and we were able to visit with family and friends. The food is always my favorite part (I try not to eat much of it but I love to make, decorate, and arrange the Christmas goodies!) I wish you all a blessed Christmas and a happy New Year!

The day after Thanksgiving we went in search for the perfect tree! After looking at many lots my dad called in for reinforcements. Lex, mom, and I joined him and we headed out to a local tree farm. Lex had a great time running through the trees and we were able to find the "right" tree. Now it's time to decorate!

Trying to get the perfect Christmas Picture

Lex is a little model! The three of us went to a park in Portland with some Christmas lights in search of the perfect Christmas picture for Jennine and Lex. I included some of the pics we took. We had a good time but were frozen by the end of the evening. It has seriously gotten cold in Oregon! Lex loves taking pictures and being the object of silly photos. We taught he to take abstract pictures and she has some super silly ideas.

On Nov. 2nd we played our neighbors the UofO. Both the men's and women's NCU basketball teams played Oregon at Mac Court. It was a great experience for both teams and we had a really good time.

Halloween was the night of many costumes! Lex started out as a cat then transformed into a princess and ended up a beautiful ballerina. We got a late start and didn't really get to trick-or-treat so Lex is looking forward to another opportunity next year.

My Father's Adventures!

My dad spend the greater part of a month on an adventure through the Grand Canyon on the Colorado river. The team had a great time and I thought I would include some pictures from his trip. On the seventh picture down if you look hard you can see him standing on the edge of the rock - the original caption on the picture said "don't jump Doug!" But if any of you know us Freemans... we love to jump off things! while I don't actually know if he made this particular jump he did find several other rocks to jump off and slide down! Jumping and Water - It's a Freeman's Dream!

I started grad school last month and it's definitely an adjustment after graduating from Oregon seven years ago. I was in flight school for four years but it's got nothing on getting my MBA! Be patient with me, it may take a little longer for me to post new pictures.

It's a Green Baby Shower

It's almost time for the newest Green to arrive! I can't wait to meet Jon and Amy's third bundle of joy. The new baby, a girl, will join her older brother and sister, Ethan and Macey. Amy and I have known each other since we were just babies and growing up together has been such a blessing. The pictures are from her shower and the final picture is of the blankets that my mom and I made for the three Green children. Amy and I picked out the fabric for the twins' blankets two years ago, and lets just say it took baby number three to motivate me to get the blankets finished.

Row Row Row Your Boat

Lexi went on her second river adventure this Summer. The family and Kirsten, my roommate, hit the McKenzie two weeks ago. It was a little cold but beautiful as always! Lex is a born rafter and really enjoyed helping Grandpa and I paddle. My dad just left Sunday for an 18 day river run down the Colorado. I'm sure I'll have some wonderful pictures of his adventure soon.

Jennine's 29!

Jennine really enjoys the fact that I am a little over 4 months older than she is, but as of August 23rd she and I are again the same age! But I can't believe that we are in our last year of our 20's. Both Amy's, Jennine, Adam, and I are all 29 now... WOW, so close to 30!
For Jennine's birthday I went up to Portland and we went to Oaks Amusement Park (a theme park in Portland) and then went out later that night with another friend Amber. We had a great time! Jennine and Lex then came down to Eugene and we had family birthday dinner at PF Chang's. I didn't get many good pictures but have posted a few.

Kayley's Shower

It was so nice for the guest of honor to be at her shower! The doctor thought Kayley was going to be early so we had to postpone her original shower. We waited until after she was born and she and her mommy were able to make the trip down from Beaverton. Kayley is now seven weeks old and getting longer by the minute (although no one knows where that comes from.) She has tons of dark brown hair that sticks straight up and beautiful blue eyes. I was so happy that Amy had a girl because for the last 5 years I've been holding onto an OSU Jr. Cheerleading baby sweatshirt (Amy was a cheerleader at OSU). My mom and I found the sweatshirt while on one of our shopping adventures and just knew one day it would come in handy. Brady (big brother) and Kayley are my favorite Beavers!

Scandi Fest!

Dad, Lexi, and I went to an EMS game last weekend. Thank God it was fishing pole night (the first 1,000 kids through the gate got a fishing pole) the game was not very exciting. Dad and Lex enjoyed some ice cream and the rest of the evening I let Lex take pictures. She loves the camera and taking silly pictures. She found out that she could take a picture of her hand squishing grandpa's head, she really thought that was funny.

Office Face Lift

No more white walls! Well, there are a few but there is also color now! It only took me two years to get color on the walls. Kirsten, Elizabeth, and I spent a few hours this summer painting the office. Corey helped long enough to put his name on the wall in Kirsten's office - Thanks Corey! We're doing some last minute framing and shopping to pull the office together before all of our students come back. Our athletes are back already and traditional students come back in ten days. I can't believe how fast summer has gone. It's almost time for me to go back as well. I have two and a half weeks left and then I'm back in school. My MBA program starts on Sept. 2nd.

Lunch with Collin

Collin was visiting from Florida and I was able to go to lunch with he and his grandparents. I love the Hurleys! They have always been so good to me and it's great to spend time with them. I only see Collin about twice a year and every time I see him I'm amazed! We had a wonderful lunch, Thanks guys!

The Family and the Beach

Mom turned 60 this summer so we went with the family to the beach for the weekend to celebrate. The weather was perfect (the best I've seen at the Oregon Coast)! We stayed in Lincoln City and enjoyed a trip to see some horses (my dad's best friend from college has a horse ranch), the Tillamook Cheese Factory, the casino, the outlet mall, and several trips to the beach where we played in the sand, got wet, searched tide pools for sea creatures, and ran up and down the dunes. We took hundreds of pictures so I'll try not to include them all... I'm putting more pictures on Lexi's page and when I get pictures from Crystal I'll add them to my "family" page.

Go Beavs- Well, Go Portland Beavers

Neene, Lex, and I went to a Portland Beavers Baseball game and had a great time. Neene and Lex live across the street from the stadium so it was extremely convenient! We enjoyed the game went home for dinner and then walked back for the fireworks show. Some of the pictures are taken by Lex - she loves taking pictures and is a terrific little photographer. She really likes taking pictures of her mommy making silly faces.. I left those pictures out, sorry :)

She was totally surprised and upon opening the door announced to Nate and I that she was not going to walk over to the party once she realized all the fuss was for her... 4th of July in Harrisburg

We started the 4th in Harrisburg at the parade. By the end of the parade Lex had pounds of candy! We also got several Frisbees which came in handy later when we played yard games for hours. Between the Frisbees, bean bag toss, and bocce there was something for everyone. Lex also had to show us all she's a future track star when she raced grandpa and I. Harrisburg had several activities for families and lots of food booths that we ventured through. After a great meal (Thanks Nate) we watched the fire works. Nate and Crystal live on the water in Harrisburg so their front yard provides a perfect place to watch the show. It was a great 4th and now we're looking forward to the next family party... Mom's 60th birthday on July 16th!!!

Olympic Trials

I got to go to the Trials!!! I've been talking about going to the Olympic Trials since they announced they were coming to Eugene. My boss let Jennine and I have his tickets when his baby sitter fell through (Thanks Michael!) We had a really good time but it was one of the hottest days of the summer. By the last picture you can tell we were melting! We got to see some fun races and some finals. Our seats were on the finish line and in the third row - they were great!

Lexi's First Rafting Trip

Kayley Alice-Renee Charon entered the world on Saturday June 28th! Kayley completes the Charon family and as the baby of the family should, she made a dramatic entrance. She gave her parents quite the scare but is doing great now! She's absolutely amazing and I was so happy to see Tony, Amy, and Brady with their new bundle of joy. Brady is going to be a great big brother and Tony and Amy are already terrific parents. I'm so happy and blessed to be Aunti Sarah! I love you guys. Summer's Wedding

Summer's wedding was lovely! Lexi was a little princess and Jennine looked beautiful. Lexi did so great, smiled for all the pictures, walked down the isle with her partner Walker, and danced the night away. It was a great wedding and we all had a really good time!

There's No Place Like Home

Traveling to and from Kansas City was a nightmare... It all started off on Thursday night when I drove to Portland. I drove for over an hour and when I took my exit my car stopped driving. I thought I had a flat tire but I was wrong. I lost a bolt from one of my brakes and the car had to be towed back to Harrisburg (thank the Lord for AAA). The part ended up being a $3 investment and my car is as good as new. At least I only had to pay for gas to drive up to Portland. From there on the traveling portion of our trip to Kansas City was terrible. Jennine went to school in the morning and Lex and I got ready for the trip. When Jennine was finished we rushed to the Max to get to the airport. We finally arrived to a long line at the counter. Our flight was delayed (and later cancelled). We stood in line for hours and finally got a flight out to Denver. the airline was routing everyone through Kansas City so by the time we got to the counter there were no more flights to KC. We had to be put up in Denver and then depart again in the morning for KC. We got to the hotel super late and Lexi was bouncing off the walls. The Hotel was beautiful so that made it a little better. The only problem was we only got a few hours sleep because we had to be back to the airport at a 4:30am. We departed for KC the next morning and when we landed they had lost Lexi's luggage... just one more hick up in our travel. the next few days were great and full of wedding celebration but of course we had to get home. We got on our plane in KC made our connecting flight (after running through the airport in Denver) and landed in Portland. We arrived with all our luggage in Portland and thought our travel nightmare was behind us... until we got on the Max. The Max had a wire problem and we had to exit. After being bussed over the bridge we were able to get back on the Max and finally made back to Jennine's apt. Nate then picked me up and I finally got home about 8pm... The pictures below are of our travels, they look like happy pictures but believe me... there were times where we were less than happy! But all is well and the Wedding was wonderful!

Newest Freeman Family Member - Meet Lilly

Lilly became a Freeman three weeks ago and is now 10 weeks old. When she arrived she was a little over 3 lbs and has now grown to about 4.5 lbs. She loves to play and is super funny with Henry. Lexi really enjoys her and has now named her little stuffed dog (which she insists is a cat...) Lilly.

29! I have two hours left until my 365 day count down to THIRTY begins. I have no idea how I'm going to spend my last year in my 20's but I hope it's a good one. Easter at Grandma's

We had a great Easter! We started off at my parents church, Grace community Fellowship, and then headed to Grandma's. We ate well and had way too much candy! Easter was small and nice (we also got to watch some good basketball! you've got to love March Madness!) Thanks for cooking Grandma. Mom and Dad had gotten back late Saturday night from a week in sunny San Diego and were exhausted, and a little sick. They or should I say the "Easter Bunny" brought Lexi back lots of fun things to keep her entertained.

More Moving in Portland

I've spent the last three weeks in Portland helping Jennine and having fun! Jennine's new place is great and in a really fun part of town. Parking is no good but there is so much to explore on foot. Every week the apartment looks better and better! We did although find out that my trunk is not good for IKEA shopping trips. Jennine and I spent a lot of time and used a lot of twine to get our purchases back to the apartment.

Moving Day - Nene's new place

Nene and Lex have a new place to call home! We moved Jennine last weekend and it was actually one of our best moves ever - Thank the Lord! We actually had fun, don't get me wrong I don't want to move her again anytime soon but it was a good move. Jennine's new place is in Northwest Portland and super cute! I'm really excited for all of the adventures that will come from the new place and new location. I'm headed up there again this weekend to help unpack and spend time with Jennine and Lex. More Snow in Portland

Another Amazing Christmas

Christmas 2007 was great! Happy 31st Birthday Nate. Lex learned many new Christmas songs this year and my favorite was to hear her sing Silent Night! She's quite the little performer and also does a great Alicia Keys! The Freeman's spent Christmas opening presents, playing games, and eating lots of food!

It's been a year so there are lots of things to share. I got a new lap top for Christmas (thanks mom and dad) so I'll be updating my blog more often. It's been a good year with lots of changes. I moved twice, was promoted at work, Jennine and Lex moved to Portland, and so many other things. Overall I've been blessed and am looking forward to another good year!
